Olive green and gray is a muted pairing that looks better in person than it sounds. These five outfits mix army green mohair, suede and alpaca with gray cashmere, wool and cotton twill. Keep the olive deep and the gray light.

Olive Green and Gray Outfits to Try This Fall
In April 2026, Vogue ran a guide to transitional outfits taken straight from the spring runways, and one formula was Bottega Veneta's: an olive-green leather jacket, a pink poplin shirt and a gray midi skirt. The pink is the surprise, but the part I keep coming back to is the olive and gray, which sit together like moss and stone.
Olive is a green with a lot of brown in it, and gray is the cool neutral that makes it look more thoughtful. Black makes olive look military, and cream makes it look soft, but gray makes it look like it belongs in a city.
A quick test: lay a gray sweater over an olive jacket in daylight. If the olive looks deep rather than muddy, and the gray looks light rather than flat, you are close.

Gray Knits, Black Boots
Johnstons of Elgin's Bhaltair beanie is ribbed cashmere and silk in gray, and Extreme Cashmere's Azz snood is a knitted dark gray cashmere blend. Junya Watanabe's ankle boots are black patent leather with studs, and Balmain's Metropolis is a black lizard-effect leather shoulder bag. This grid is the gray and the dark half, so add olive in the coat. What I would skip: studs on both the boots and the bag at once.

An Army Green Cardigan, Gray Barrel Pants
Khaite's Meadow cardigan is ribbed mohair and silk in army green, fuzzy and a little oversized, and St. Agni's barrel-leg pants are a gray wool-blend weave. Le Monde Beryl's Luna ballet flats are crystal-embellished mesh in green, and Saint Laurent's Kate Tassel is a small green suede shoulder bag with the Cassandre. How to wear it: the cardigan goes with a plain tee, and the barrel leg is kept just above the ankle to show the flat.
A Gray Turtleneck, an Olive Twill Skirt
Gabriela Hearst's May turtleneck is gray wool, cashmere and silk, and Sacai's Weather skirt is a gray-green cotton twill midi that sits right between the two colors. Gucci's Sylke boots are green suede with the Horsebit and Loewe's Loop bag is medium dark green suede. The skirt is the whole pairing in one garment, which makes this the easiest outfit in the edit.
A Dark Green Dress Under Charcoal
Toteme's draped crepe satin maxi is dark green and falls in a long, slightly shiny line. Studio Nicholson's Ria coat is wool-blend melton in charcoal, thick and quiet. Ancient Greek Sandals' wedge slip-ons are black velvet and Judith Leiber's Origami Fan clutch is a crystal-embellished black satin. This is the dressy one, and it is for when you want a long dress in November.
An Olive Felt Coat, Gray Cashmere
Lemaire's belted coat is alpaca and wool-blend felt in green, with the soft, clean shape Lemaire does so well. Éterne's sweater is a light gray cotton and cashmere blend and TWP's Drew pants are pleated silk-blend charmeuse in green, cut wide. Brunello Cucinelli's snood is ribbed gray cashmere with a drawstring. Green on green is fine as long as the gray is the thing near your face.
Keep the Gray Light
The rule I follow with olive and gray is to keep the gray light and the olive deep. Dove, heather and pale flannel grays all make olive look richer, while a heavy charcoal can pull the green toward black. Put the olive on a coat, a skirt or a bag, and the gray on the knit near your face. If you only own one of the two, start with a gray sweater, because most olive pieces will go with it.
