Kwiat, From Diamond Studs to Eternity Bands: Where to Start

Kwiat, From Diamond Studs to Eternity Bands: Where to Start

Kwiat jewelry, from diamond rings and Sunburst to Cluster and diamond stud earrings.

I sort Kwiat jewelry into rings, Sunburst, Cluster, and diamond stud earrings, then say where I would start. Each grid contains eight pieces linked to Kwiat's U.S. site.

Kwiat began in 1907, when Sam Kwiat opened a shop on Canal Street in New York City’s original diamond district. The house’s official history traces the business through the Kwiat family and says its standards for cutting diamonds have remained constant.

Each grid below follows one Kwiat collection or jewelry category, so you can go straight to the kind of piece you want.

Rings

Rings is where I would start if I wanted something close to the hand. I picked eight: a cognac diamond slim band in rose gold, a platinum diamond band, yellow sapphires in yellow gold, pink sapphires in white gold, black diamonds in platinum, tsavorites in yellow gold, a diamond and ruby stackable ring in platinum, and a marquise and round diamond eternity ring in white gold.

A practical tip: I would start with one narrow band if I planned to stack it, then add another after I know how it feels on my hand. What I would skip is buying several colored-stone versions at once, since one accent keeps the stack quieter.

Sunburst

Kwiat describes Sunburst as pavé rays that amplify a diamond’s glow, with smaller diamonds arranged to create the effect of a larger center stone. I picked eight: seven pendants and necklaces, including the X and Star pendants, halo designs, a demi-line necklace and a long line necklace, plus one pair of illusion-set diamond hoops.

A practical tip: I would begin with the X or Star pendant for a small point of focus, then consider a line necklace if I wanted the rays to fill more of the neckline. What I would skip is pairing the line necklace with a larger pendant, since they compete for the same space.

Cluster

Cluster puts marquise X shapes and floral settings next to diamond pendants, earrings and a line necklace. I picked eight: small X studs, huggie earrings, large floral studs, two floral pendants, an X pendant, a diamond line necklace and large X studs. The images show platinum, white gold and yellow gold, so the metal choice shifts the feel of the same collection.

A practical tip: I would start with the small X studs if I wanted one close-to-the-ear piece, or the floral pendant if I wanted a motif at the neckline. What I would skip is stacking the line necklace with the larger floral pendant, since the shapes compete.

Diamond Stud Earrings

The diamond stud category is where I would look for one small shape with a personal detail. I picked eight: Sunburst studs with diamond halos, Sunburst heart studs, Splendor cluster studs, petite Kwiat Star studs in yellow gold, platinum Knot studs, Duet Wrap studs in white gold, Starry Night Duo studs in white gold, and classic round diamond studs in platinum.

A practical tip: studs make an easy gift when I do not know the ring or bracelet size, and I would check the scale and fastening on the product page. What I would skip is choosing the largest setting for everyday wear before considering how it sits on the ear.

Where I would start with Kwiat

If I were buying one Kwiat piece, I would start with the petite Kwiat Star studs in yellow gold. The star shape has a clear point of view and the scale feels easy to wear. Next I would add a slim ring in the metal I wear most, then look at the Sunburst X pendant for a small diamond motif. For a gift, I would choose earrings or a pendant when I do not know ring size.

For care, I would store each piece separately, keep jewelry away from perfume and hand cream, and check Kwiat’s own care guidance before cleaning. I like that the house’s history begins with a Canal Street shop and that the current edit brings the same attention to cut into pieces for the hand, ear and neck.
