Cold Denim

Cold Denim

A cold toned denim edit built on slim and straight jeans in washes from icy blue to deep indigo, plus chambray and denim shirts.

Cold denim is all about cool blues, from a washed out icy pair to a rinse so dark it looks navy. I like to keep the palette tight and let the washes do the talking, so a pale chambray shirt over deep indigo jeans looks planned instead of matchy.

For the jeans, the slim straight cuts from Citizens of Humanity, Paige, AG and DL1961 are the ones I reach for when I want a clean line from hip to ankle, and Joe's Jeans sits right in the same lane. Madewell and Fair Harbor make the light denim shirts that look best open over a white tee, while Knickerbocker's darker Pacific shirt is the one to wear buttoned up. If you want a looser shape, Levi's and Pacsun have the baggy pairs, and Wrangler's cowboy cut brings a faded, sun bleached wash. Finish with white sneakers and you are done.

Denim on Denim Done Right

Stop wearing one denim piece at a time. Deep indigos, icy washes, layered blue tones — when you commit to the full look instead of breaking it up, something clicks. The secret is treating washes like you'd treat color: contrast them, don't match them. This is how denim becomes a whole wardrobe instead of just a category.
