Ba&sh Sizing: Does Ba&sh Run Small, Big or True to Size?

Ba&sh Sizing: Does Ba&sh Run Small, Big or True to Size?

Ba&sh does not have one reliable brand-wide fit rule; its size chart is a starting point and each garment's cut matters. I translate the numbered label to its US equivalent, then check the fabric and silhouette before choosing.

Start with the conversion, then look at the cut

Ba&sh sizing is not a one-note small-or-big question; I start with the ba&sh size chart and let the garment decide the rest. Its ready-to-wear conversion maps brand sizes 0 through 4 to US XS through XL. The guide asks shoppers to measure the fullest part of the bust, the narrowest part of the waist, and the fullest part of the hips, but it does not publish body-measurement ranges for each size. That distinction matters. A Ba&sh 2 is a conversion label, not a promise that every dress, jean, or cardigan will skim the same way. Anisa is described as fitted and rib-knit from a wool blend; its model reference is five foot ten in a US 4. Elise is also rib-knit but has a stretch weave and is shown in a US Small. Those are helpful anchors, not a sizing law. I would first match my largest measurement to the conversion and then check whether the style is fitted, straight, or relaxed before ordering.

Dresses with very different lines

Agnes Printed Maxi Dress and Hamy Printed Midi Dress both have printed surfaces, but the length labels are only the start of fit. The former is a maxi, the latter a midi; I would check skirt shape, neckline, and waist construction on each product page rather than treating them as the same silhouette. Anisa Rib-Knit Long-Sleeve Midi Dress is described as fitted and made from a wool blend, so anyone between sizes should favor the intended close fit over a guess based on the word midi. Elise Rib-Knit Maxi Sweater Dress is a stretch rib knit in a 50% wool and 50% viscose blend, shown on a model in US Small. That extra give changes the feel compared with a woven printed dress. If I were choosing between them, I would take measurements in the clothes I actually wear and compare where the dress needs room at bust, waist, and hip; a model's height alone will not predict hem placement on me. The chart helps translate sizes, while the garment details tell me what kind of ease the designer intends.

Denim and tailored trousers

Denim makes the conversion feel less abstract. Mislav Mid Rise Wide Leg Jeans sit at mid rise and use a wide-leg shape; Pava Straight Pants are the straighter alternative. Mallou Cotton High-Rise Wide-Leg Jeans are 100% cotton and shown on a 5'10" model in US 4, while Raja High-Rise Pants are relaxed and straight in organic cotton. Those rises and fabric choices matter more than the number printed on the chart. For Mislav and Mallou, I would compare my waist and hip measurements before choosing, since cotton denim may feel different from a looser pant; I would not size up automatically without checking the cut and fabric. Pava and Raja give a straighter route when I want less volume through the leg. The practical check is to measure my natural waist and fullest hip, then decide whether I want the trouser to sit high or closer to mid-rise; I make that choice before reaching for a label.

The tops and knits need their own read

Ba&sh has enough range to make a quick size verdict a little lazy. Hoda Draped Top and Laura Embroidered Blouse lean into softer top shapes, while Karante Wool Cardigan and Gaspard Cardigan make knitwear a bigger part of the decision. Karante is 100% wool, and Gaspard is a cotton-polyamide cardigan with an approximate 14.5-inch shoulder-to-hem length, so layering plans are worth checking before choosing a size. My recommendation is simple: start at the conversion that matches my body, then use the product description to separate close-fitting from relaxed pieces. If I usually fall between two sizes, I decide whether I want the seam to skim or a little room for a layer, especially with a buttoned cardigan. I would not size up across the whole brand by instinct. Ba&sh is best treated as a label with a clear chart and individual cuts that still deserve their own check.
