Inner child dressing is about the dress you would have begged for at eight, made grown-up enough to wear to dinner. I look for puff sleeves, bows, ruffles and prints, and I keep the shoes flat. A white babydoll like Amanda Uprichard's Russo looks sweet with ballet flats and nothing else.

 

When I want something with more pattern, endless rose has a floral mini with a beaded bow, and Hemant and Nandita makes ruffled dresses with a tie at the waist that move well. A soft grey blue mini is an easy one for a summer wedding. For shoes, a black Mary Jane from Simone Rocha or the Margaux Fonteyn flat finishes the idea. Keep your bag small and your jewelry simple so the dress gets to be playful.
